The Government of Haiti is bringing the international community together in Port-au-Prince to support the country’s post-quake recovery and reconstruction.
A 7.2 magnitude earthquake in the south-west of the country in August 2021 led to the deaths of 2200 people and injured 12,700 more. The Government estimates that $2 billion is needed for the long-term recovery and reconstruction of the country.
A day ahead of an international event focusing on how best to support Haiti, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Bruno Lemarquis, briefed the media at UN Headquarters on what is at stake.
