About the event
The United Nations is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. To mark her birthday, she launched an international campaign around the theme "Shaping our future together". Through this campaign, she wants to organize the biggest global conversation around international cooperation and building a better future.
The UN75 campaign takes several forms, the two main ones being:
1) an online survey that allows everyone in one minute to give their opinion on priority themes.
2) dialogues with local communities to provide a wider opportunity for everyone to participate in the conversation.
This anniversary falls in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when the world is in the grip of profound upheaval, aggravated by an unprecedented global health crisis which has serious economic and social repercussions, cooperation between peoples is questioned. Will we come out stronger and better equipped to work together? Or, on the contrary, will mistrust and isolation increase further? The United Nations has chosen to make 2020 the year of dialogue, the year in which, as a human family, we will undertake, together, to examine our priorities and to seek ways to build a better future for all. Global dialogue - and action - is more urgent than ever. This is an inclusive dialogue. Each person has a say and must participate in the change. Thus, the dialogue with young people goes in line with the values advocated by the United Nations.
