This story is from the "Faces of Recovery" series about how Haitians, the UN and partners responded to the devastation caused by the August 2021 earthquake.
Jules Adolphe lost his home in Fleurant in the department of Nippes in the 14 August earthquake, but he remains positive about his future.
“My house was destroyed in the earthquake and my grandmother and father both suffered serious fractures. Since then, my family has been living in difficult circumstances in a temporary shelter.
But despite everything, little by little, I have been trying to start over. I’m alive, I’m breathing, and I have my whole life ahead of me. I have studied management science and entrepreneurship, so I’m optimistic about the future.
My parents are supporting me and they are working hard to get back to normal after the earthquake”.
