This story is from the "Faces of Recovery" series about how Haitians, the UN and partners responded to the devastation caused by the August 2021 earthquake.
The home of Edna and her grandchildren in Maniche in the Sud Department of Haiti was destroyed in the 14 August but with some community spirit her life has been put back on track.
I’m now living in a temporary house with my grandsons and granddaughter after my home collapsed on the Saturday the earthquake struck.
Families in my neighbourhood came together to help me rebuild it from scratch using what was left of the destroyed building.
Three weeks after the earthquake we had a new family home. I’m pleased we managed to do it quickly because after the earthquake we had the rain, so it would have been a nightmare for us, as it was for many other people we know.
My house may have been destroyed but it has been rebuilt with optimism and community spirit.
